Young Calgary realtor achieves success in school, career and competitive dancing

When Krystian Kazanowski takes on any endeavour, he does it to the best of his abilities.

It’s the philosophy that has been his driving force as a realtor, a national-calibre ballroom dancer and a university student.

In fact, Kazanowski, who joined the RE/MAX Real Estate (Central) office at the age of 21, pursued all three at the same time a couple of years ago.

“At that time I was the youngest agent in Central and that same year I actually made it on to the top producers list at our office,” says Kazanowski, who is now 23 years old. He started the real estate licence course when he was 20 years old.  “At the same time I was finishing up my university degree being a full-time student taking night classes with a major in general management and a minor in international business.

“And I was already number three in Canada at the Ballroom Canadian Closed Championships in 10 dance (Latin and Standard dancing). I used to practice every day for two to three hours.”

Kazanowski, who was a dancer since he was about nine years old, retired only a few months ago from dancing.

He is the son of Polish immigrants and was born and raised in Calgary. His first language was Polish and he learned English at a French school in Calgary – the private Calgary French & International School.

His first two years of post-secondary education were at SAIT where he received a two-year diploma in general management finishing with honours. He then transferred to the University of Lethbridge taking night classes at the Bow Valley College campus in Calgary.

“I was a realtor at that time already. I was dancing full-time. I was graduating from university fourth year with full courses. And I was doing real estate as well,” laughs Kazanowski. “I was studying, dancing, doing real estate. Everything full-time.

“Real estate was something I always wanted to get into from a young age. I was pretty much nine or 10 years old and I knew real estate was something I wanted to do. I joined to sign up with RE/MAX because it’s the number one office (the top-producing single RE/MAX office in the world for 19 straight years). I wanted to start off strong and start off well to build a good reputation.

“Pretty much everything I do I do it the best of my abilities.”

Taking on so many activities and doing them all at the same time is no small feat. A truly amazing accomplishment when you think about it.

How did he do it?

“A lot of discipline,” he laughs. “Since I was a child, I’ve always wanted to do my best. Whatever I do I do as best as I possibly could.”

That quality and drive in his character is evident in his career as a realtor as he’s been successful already at a very young age.

“I do all over actually. Pretty much what I specialize in is new developments. So I work with builders and new products. It’s most of my business,” he says.
