RE/MAX Real Estate (Central) admin staff a key to company’s success

Becoming the top producing single RE/MAX office in the world for the past 20 straight years is no easy feat but it really highlights how important a team effort has been for RE/MAX Real Estate (Central) in Calgary in achieving that incredible milestone.

Every successful effort requires individuals who play key roles in helping a team, a company, a business become successful.

It’s why Administrative Professionals’ Day was created – and which was celebrated on Wednesday across North America – to recognize the extraordinary work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists and other administrative support professionals and their vital contributions.

“I’ve experienced it having been an administrative professional and also in hiring them for other people. Every person, every single person, plays a part and they can make their role their own and bring it to life. They build their reputation but ultimately they’re helping to build the reputation of their company really,” says Sue Styles, a business coach, professional speaker and author, with Maximized Results.

“You think of RE/MAX and they have a solid reputation when it comes to administrative and conveyancing. And people know that. They bring the best of themselves to it and then they add to the whole company. Good admin allows leaders to do what leaders are good at. So that’s the strategy, the big-picture thinking, the sales. And when leaders feel they can rely on their administrative support staff, leaders are free to do what they do best. “

Styles, who specializes in the real estate industry, says good administrative people are detailed sharpshooters and task driven. Dependability, reliability and taking ownership for tasks are also key skills.

Here are the key Central administrative people who have contributed along the way to making the brokerage a global leader:

Penny Vey

Vey works in the Administration/Accounting department and has been a part of the Central team since March 15, 2011. She is well known to all of the agents at the office. Being there the longest, she has established strong relationships with the agents. Although she is reserved at times, all you have to do is mention her dogs and she lights right up. She is known as being someone who has a heart of gold and wears it on her sleeve.

Tammy Spafford

Spafford is the Executive Assistant to owner Pat Hare. She started with RE/MAX (Central) many years ago. She joined the Admin Team last year as the Executive Assistant to Hare. Spafford has an amazing “Can Do” Attitude that motivates those around her to do the same.

Gloria Forno

Forno works in the Conveyancing Department. She has been part of the RE/MAX Real Estate (Central) Team since August 12, 2012. She has amazing knowledge of the Conveyancing Department and the team is always astonished by her memory. Out of the thousands of deals Central does in a year the conveyancing team can ask her a question about a file and nine times out of 10 she can tell them exactly what is going on with that trade and even the trade number.

Mary Berlie

Berlie joined the conveyancing team in 2016. She is known for her uplifting spirit and energy that she gives off on a daily basis. She always greets you with a big smile and amazing attitude. Her energy is very contagious. You can’t help but laugh and be in a good mood when you are around her. If you are very feeling a little blah her hugs are sure to cheer you up.

Jessica Cranswick

Cranswick joined the Conveyancing Team in February 2017. She had dabbled as being a real estate agent and realized that conveyancing was where her heart is. She has an amazing eye for detail when it comes to reviewing the Agents Purchase Contract. Her contract knowledge is outstanding.

Ashley den Hartog

She joined the RE/MAX Real Estate (Central) Team in September 2015 and works in the listings department and reception. Den Hartog comes into the office each day with such a positive attitude. Her laughter and sense of humour is contagious. When the market gets busy you can always count on her to go the extra mile to help out.

Jessica Saunders

Saunders joined the Central in September 2013, starting in the Conveyancing Department and now working alongside Vey in the Administration/ Accounting department.

Dianna Clark

Clark joined the office in May 2007. She does the accounting at the office. Although the office doesn’t see a lot of her as she comes usually once or twice a month, she is always a delight to work alongside with. Her knowledge in accounting is strong and she is someone people can go to with any questions they may have.

Courtney Van Engelen

Van Engelen is the newest member to join the team just recently. She has been training at reception and in the listing department. Her attitude and sense of humour fit right in with all of the team in the office.

“In an office with so many top producing agents, having a dedicated, well-trained staff that works as a team is crucial. We couldn’t be the number one RE/MAX office in the world for closed transactions without the entire team playing a role,” says Constance Slippy, Director, Business Development Team, with Central.
